Famiglia Principini

Rooted in Sage

A family-owned and operated boutique winery.

A journey of passion and love, we grow and produce wines that honor centuries-old traditions. With a renewed approach to natural winemaking, we focus on expressing the true character of the grapes and the terroir, embracing minimal intervention every step of the way.

"We didn't come from a wine family. We became one. And that, we think, is exactly the point." Saverio & Carolina Principini

The Estate

The Principini estate sits in the hills of Sage, California — a remote, quiet valley in Riverside County at 2,550 feet of elevation (777 meters). The altitude matters: it means cooler nights, slower ripening, and wines with natural freshness and complexity that lower-elevation vineyards have to work hard to achieve.

Varietals that honor our roots: Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Vermentino and Pinot Grigio from Italy and Malbec from Argentina.

Every vine is farmed without pesticides or chemical sprays. Every wine is made with minimal intervention and low dosages of sulfites. Not because it's fashionable, but because it's honest and we believe in the true untamed and unaltered expression of the grapes and of the terroir.

Our estate is blessed with daily winds, coming straight from the ocean, less than 25 linear miles from us, winds so strong that push away naturally pests and illnesses from our vines allowing us to keep an organic regime.

The terroir is a combination of decompose granite and a soil rich in minerals, so rich that our agronomist after seeing the soil analysis said that this ground waited their all existence for vines to be planted in them!
